Default How do I change the view of the cursor from a dot to a line?

My system crashed and I had to reload MS Office 2003. Now in Word, the
cursor appears as a flashing dot instead of a flashing vertical dash. I
can't find any information on how to change the view back to the dash. I've
looked under Tools and Options, but I don't see anything that appears
relevant. The dot is annoying and hard to see.

Change the zoom setting to 500% and back to 100%.
