Default require I-MR, X-R, X-S with overbar over the characters MR and .

I have found the equation editor but it seems to not want to let me put the
whole line in I-MR, X-R, X-S in one go with overbars on MR and X and X.

also the ones I have created when I cut and paste to OneNote will not stay
on one line but go
I-MR
,
X-R
,
X-S

It's hard to really understand what you want, but it seems like
you want an overbar over more than one character. If so, you need
to be using the overbar template and not the overbar
embellishment. The items on the embellishments palette (third
from the left on the top row of palettes) only apply to the last
character typed, and can never be applied to more than one
character. The "overbar and underbar templates" palette (6th from
the left on the second row) can be used to apply these bars,
etc., to more than one character. Select the template first, type
all the characters you want the template to be applied to, then
press the Tab key to exit the template.
