How do I create a thumbnail of other word documents that can be inserted into
a main document (4 to a page). Some of these 'other' documents are more
than 1 page.

I can't think of a simple way, other than to use Screen Capture from the
print preview window to create a graphical image. I am not sure how useful
this would be as the image would be hard to read when pasted into Word. If
you have a proprietary screen capture utility (such as the excellent
SnagIt - there is a demo) you can capture the printer output of the document
and insert the resulting image scaled to your requirements.
