Default Replace command in Word doesn't find word or text selected.

When I highlight text in a Word document or type it in the search box, Word
finds 0 instances yet there are several. I've tried this in several different
documents with the same result. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

The obvious suggestion is that there's something wrong with your Find text.
Do you have any formatting applied? Are 'Use wildcards' or 'Match case'
checked? Does your Find string contain special characters?

Make sure "No formatting" is selected in the "Find what" options
