Default overwriting highlighted text in Word 2003

I just had a new version of Word 2003 installed on my computer. Since
then, when I try to highlight text to overwrite it, the highlighted text
stays and the new text is entered at the beginning of the original text.

Thank you. My IT staff that installed the new version didn't even know how
to fix it!

How much are you paying them for this basic stuff?
Aren't they even bright enough to wing it by asking here?
No wonder IT professionals get a bad name
