This is an option for you because your printer driver has a booklet-printing
feature, which will not be available to all users. Anything in printer
Properties is supplied by the printer driver and is not part of Word.

When ready to print simply go to the print menu and select properties
In properties select booklet printing AND THEN select duplex printing AND
THEN go back to booklet printing. This somehow resets the booket
printing
icon to work properly. Now the only thing you have to do is set the
"Scale
to paper size" to letter. So just to review, booklet printing in the
"print
menu" now reads, A4, Plain paper, Normal, Left Edge Booklet, Letter.
Graphics now print properly and I print a weekly booklet that is anywhere
from 4 single sheets (5.5 x 8.5) to 24 single sheets and it produces a
beautiful and correct booklet.
