Default Modifying the way Word opens

I want to modify the way Word starts from my Windows Quick Launch icons,
so that it doesn't open with a blank new document.
First question - is it possible to modify the default quicklaunch icon
for Word to add a command switch? I can't see any way of doing this. For
example I would like to modify it to include the /w switch - or do I
have to make a new shortcut?

Second - Opening Word with the template dialogue open? can't find the
switch to do this in help

Third - with the Open dialogue opened? Ditto - can't find a command
switch for this.

Many thanks.

You may open Word with no blank by adding the /n switch to the startup
command.

You cannot achieve the other options from command line switches. You would
need to create a macro for this and probably the AutoOpen macro would do
this best.

If there are not too many templates that you want to select from, you could
create several launch buttons for Word with modified start commands using
the template switch: /tpath/templatename.

Look up Command Line Switches under Word Help.

Thank you. No way to modify the existing default quicklaunch icon then?

No but you can remove it and replace it with another manually created on the
desktop.
