Default Multiple Word Windows

How do I change Word from creating a new window on the toolbar at the bottom
of the screen? I would like Word to work the way Excel does---the open
windows are available only through the Windows drop-down menu. I usually
have several programs open and the toolbar is too cluttered when Word creates
separate windows in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

If you have Word 2002 or 2003, go to Tools Options View and clear the
checkbox for "Windows in Taskbar".

If you have Word 2000, see

Thank you very much. Yes, I forgot to mention that I use Word 2000, so I'm
glad you included it in your answer.
