Default How do I stop automatic repagination when viewing Header & Footers

When I view Header & Footers in a large Word document and try to move down
the page, the file goes through a repagination for every click of the mouse.
How do I stop this, so I can page down more efficiently?

Is there a way to turn off the repagination?

Note that problems with repagination could be a sign of a corrupt document.
See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/apperrors/corruptdoc.htm.
