Default Include links (icons) in MS Word: will it affect the document size

I have never heard anything about limitations in Word (besides 32MB in text
only) but now I have this situation that pushed me to think about the
possibility that I might not be able to do this. Let's see...

I want to have a main document with embebed icons pointing to additional MS
objects like word documents, spreadhseets, dabatases, presentations, etc, and
maybe to graphics, .PDFs, and other files. These objects will be residing in
our servers.

Do I have to worry about reaching the maximum limits within Word to hold
these undetermined number of icons linking to the actual files that I want
these to point to?

Hi Peter

If your document is going to store *links*, then I can't see that this is a
problem.

If you were actually going to *embed* the documents, spreadsheets,
databases, presentations etc in one Word document, then I would get a bit
nervous.

But just to be sure, you could experiment. Create a blank document and note
down its size. Add a link to a large file and see if the Word document's
file size increases significantly. If it does not increase significantly
when linking to a large file, then you know you're OK.

Hope this helps.
