Default limit text to existing text box size in a form (no wrapping)

I'm creating a form with many text boxes. Is there a global option to limit
text to the size of the box? Right now, if you keep typing or select a larger
font, the box expands automatically, messing up the form layout. If I click
the properties of each box, I can select a maximum number of characters, but
if a larger font is used, it will still wrap and make the box bigger. Also,
is it just me, but the Word 2007 help is a lot harder to find a solution than
the Word 2003 help.
Thanks

Right-click the text box border and choose Format Text Box from the context
menu. On the Text Box tab, make sure that "Word wrap text in AutoShape" is
checked and that "Resize AutoShape to fit text" is cleared, and click OK.
You can then set those options as defaults for the current document, by
right-clicking the text box border and choosing Set AutoShape Defaults from
the context menu. Note that existing text boxes won't be affected; their
properties must be modified separately.

On the other hand, if you are creating a protected form, the usual approach
is to place the text form fields inside table cells with fixed dimensions;
that way, you prevent the form from resizing if "excessive" text is entered
into the fields.
