Default Currency and Decimal Places..Am aware it has been answered.

Hi.
I'm having the same problem with most others regarding the decimal places
and currency transfer from Excel to Word.

I have read over the webpage detailing what you should do but I am totally
new to this system and did not understand much of it.

Could someone please explain how to resolve this problem in newbie terms
please?

Thank you.

All the switches you are likely to need (and probably a few more besides)
are shown in the relevant sections of
http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm which may have been the
reference to which you referred.

if you insert a merge field from the wizard or toolbar
(http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_lab...th_word_xp.htm) it will probably
be displayed in the document as

Fieldname

Press Alt +F9 (or right click the field and select 'toggle' and it will show
as

{Mergefield Fieldname}

Or if you know the fieldnames simply use CTRL+F9 for the field boundaries
and type in the rest between.

Add the switch to suit the task after the field name and before the closing
bracket eg for dollar currency :

{Mergefield Fieldname \# ",$0.00"}

Press F9 (to update) then ALT+F9 (or Right click toggle) to toggle the
display back again.

I assume that you are referring to the "Formatting Word fields with
switches" on fellow MVP Graham Mayor's website at:

http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm

Assuming that you are talking about the output of a mailmerge operation, all
that you need to do is press Alt+F9 when the mailmerge main document is the
active document (that is before executing the merge) to display the field
codes and then to the field that you want to apply the formatting, insert
the formatting switch

\# "$,0.00;($,0.00)"

inside the closing }

Note, if you do not have any negative values, you don't need the

;($,0.00)

part of the above, but it won't hurt to have it.

Hope this helps.
