I'm guessing perhaps you're referring to the MRU list in the Getting Started
task pane. You can't delete files directly from the task pane, but you can
delete them from the MRU list that appears at the bottom of the File menu,
and this will result in their being deleted from the task pane as well.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Hyphen. Your mouse pointer will change to a big minus sign.
Hover over the File menu to open it and click on the file you want to
remove. Use this shortcut carefully, as it will remove *any* menu item you
click on. It is used up with one click, however, and you can dismiss it with
ESC if you change your mind.
