That's the way justification works. If there is too much space, then try
hyphenating some words. -- Suzanne S. There's one more thing you can try... Go to Tools Options
Compatibility and check the option "Do full justification like WordPerfect 6.x for Windows". Word's default justification algorithm only expands spaces to justify lines. The WordPerfect algorithm first tries to compress them slightly, and pushes the last word to the next line only if compression can't make it fit. This often results in better looking text, especially in fairly wide text columns. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org On Wed, 4 May 2005 18:27:08 -0500, "Suzanne S. Hi T-B,
The space that gets added is designed into the Font sets to be within the standards established by the typesetting industry. It _has_ to be there in order to space the text correctly & provide flush left & right alignment... that's what 'Justified' is. If you are not pleased with the effect justification has, you might want to make minor adjustments to your margins and/or use a different font. There are adjustments that can be made but if applied on a large scale basis the appearance will probably be far worse rather than better. BTW- don't judge the flow of your text by what you see on screen. Most displays can't 'draw' the characters where they are supposed to be as accurately as a printer can!
