When creating a form in Word, I would like to use a Tick instead of the
standard cross.

You, and a number of other people. There is no way to get a tick instead of
an X in a formfield checkbox. However, there are a number of ways to create
and use clickable checkboxes in documents / templates. Some require
protected or locked forms, others do not. Some use symbols that include a
tick rather than an X. Take a look at the Checkbox template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/downl...#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these.
