Default Fotter won't continue on next page

I've created a "second section" or section break where new page numbering has
started (page 1 of 10) etc, but after i'm finished writing on the first page,
and go to the next one in that section, there's no footer. i don't want to
have to keep creating a new footer for each page, i didn't think that was the
point of them lol. what can i do?

Do you have "Different first page" enabled? If so, then the footer where you
put the page number would be the First Page Footer, and you would have to
add the page number to the primary Footer as well.
