no blank page when open word

Hiya, first post here so be gentle. I have a problem that when ever i open word instead of a blank page coming up i get a page with loads of text on it. The text was something that my hubby copied and pasted off the internet about brake discs, he saved this doc. i have to select and cut to get rid and this happens everytime. Has anyone got any solutions cos this is really starting to get on my nerves. thanks in advance.
