Default spelling and grammer check in a template

I have a template that has fields for used for a mail merge. on some of the
merged documents the spelling and grammer checking is turned off for some
fields but on some it is not although it is the same field in both documents.
I have made sure that the template is set with speling and grammer is on in
both toolsoptions ad the language settings.

any ideas on how to correct the template so it will always have a spell
check turned on?
