Default Word 2003 open existing document - In status bar "(an approximate.

When opening an existing document Word 2003 displays the following in the
status bar to the right of the document file name:
"(an approximate value)".
There is nothing in the MS Office online help about what this means.

Default

What you missed between the filename and the words "(an approximate value"
was the character count.
