Hello,

I'm not even showing your first post on my system.

Looking at your previous posts I still don't have a clue as to what your
question is.
Specifically:
I am now preparing some notes on this problem for another person who may
be affected. So I have a question: Has Microsoft ever admitted that
this bug exists? And has SP3 for Word 2000 introduced any new bugs?

Word 2000 is now 6 years old. Word 2002 and then Word 2003 were issued in
part to correct problems reported in Word 2000 (and to introduce additional
features). Word 2000 with its service packs has proved to be a very stable
product.

I never heard of the Vet program. I know that Norton AV will cause problems
in Word when the Office plug-in is enabled. Some of those problems are like
the ones you describe. I have no reason to think that a lesser-known program
won't cause similar problems.

I realize that you want a lot of answers. However, I suggest reviewing the
posting guidelines on the MVP site.

When you can, restrict a post to one question or problem and make sure that
post or problem is in your subject line. That gets you the best response.
People may know a lot about your third or tenth problem but not even see
that question. They certainly won't follow a long thread with questions and
answers they can't help on to figure out where you still need help. In the
case of this post, no one reading only this post can have any idea what your
question has to do with normal.dot.

Perhaps my problems at the end put you all off. Even if you don't have an
answer for them, I would appreciate your feedback about my fist two
paragraphs.

First, I want to thank all you kind people for your help when the
document I was working on became corrupt, possibly as a result of
normal.dot spreading thre trouble. I renamed normal dot and started a
new one, with the 'prompt me' check box checked. Apparently no more
trouble with documents, at least so far.

I do have a probably unrelated and more general problem. I have the Vet
AV software and spyware detector running. Since installing them (maybe
coincidentally) I am experiencing odd problems, eg my cursor becomes
jerky in word, excel or when sednijng email, this morning windows hung
up on start up and on reset reported that disk error was found...
