Default text that is outlined and gradient filled

I am having trouble getting text to have a black border and gradient filled.
It looks great on the screen but when I go to print the gradient comes out as
a rectangle and not the text shape.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Unfortunately your post isn't descriptive of what you are doing to try to
achieve the effect, nor does it mention what version of Word you are using.
That makes it difficult to offer any kind of specific suggestions.

I can say that the only ways to do this in Word is to use WordArt or to
insert a graphic from some other source. Text cannot be formatted in the
manner you describe.
