when i move through the document the pictures dissapear

This is a known problem and is usually attributed to a conflict with the
display driver. I meant display adapter as you managed to work out. It does seem to be the
recent ATI adapters that cause the most problems in this respect. Thanks for the confirmation that yours fell into this group.
