I used to beable to highlight a word and replace it with another word now it
does not do this can some one please tell me why?

Have a look at Tools - Options - Edit tab - Edit options section - check
first box typing replaces selection or something to that effect.

Thank you both that seems to have sorted the problem out don't know how that
got deselected as I never go in to that part lol But thank you once again
