table of contents page number won't allign right
When there is an item in the TOC that is less than 5 characters in length,
the page number won't allign right. It alligns left with the item name. For example: Box5 when what I want is Box............................................... ............5 which is how the items that are longer than 4 characters are shown. Any suggestions? |

As has been explained before, this is caused by having a tab stop or hanging
indent just to the right of the short entries. You can either remove the tab stop (or move the hanging indent) or (if headings in the document are left-aligned, add a tab character to the end of the short ones and add the \w switch to the TOC field to preserve the tab characters. -- Suzanne S. I went in to "paragraph" and to the tabs button and cleared the 0.5" and 1"
tabs, leaving the 6.5" and that worked (just in case somebody esle can't find the previous explanations) "Suzanne S. You need to make the change in the TOC style (which should happen
automatically if the TOC styles are set to update automatically, as they are by default), but see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TOCJasonTabs.htm -- Suzanne S.
