Why doesn't indexing work with a concordance file?
I set up my concordance file in two columns as directed. My Word 2003
document is 244 pages (8.5 x 11 pages) long and some postings indicated that this might be too long so I broke it in half and tried that also. The message says that no entries were marked. That's the problem: no entries were marked even though all the words are in there. The concordance file is fairly long: 98 KB. Is that a problem? The data drive is not the same as the drive on which the Word program resides, is that a problem? When I select the concordance file from the indexing page, it does not automatically insert itself in the box--I have to type it in. Does that help explain the problem? There is no table of contents in the book yet so that shouldn't be a problem--some postings suggested that as a problem. |
