Right now, double spacing as a default will work better for me than to have
to go into a ton of documents and update them from single spacing! I have checked the help screen, but all it does is address how to change the spacing on a single document. Is there a way to change that default on all Word documents? |

Line spacing is a formatting attribute of the individual documents, not a
'feature' of Word. Although you may be able to come up with VBA to change the line spacing in a quantity of documents it will still have to open each one to make the change and it may also conflict with other formatting in some of the documents. Modify the style that the text is based on.
This is probably the 'Normal' style. If you are uncertain about how to do this, the following procedure is the simplest: Select any paragraph: Look in the Style box (left of the Font box) assume it says 'Normal' Format|Paragraph and set the line spacing to whatever you choose. Leave the paragraph selected. Click ONCE in the style box - the Style name will be highlighted. Type 'Normal' (or whatever it was originally) AND PRESS ENTER. This will modify the Normal style, and change the appearance of all documents based upon it. -- Regards, Pat Garard Melbourne, Australia _______________________ "Esp_etc" wrote in message ... But, of course, existing documents will not be affected as you modify
the template (unless "Automatically update document styles" is checked in Tools | Templates and Add-Ins, Templates tab). Also, note that changing the Normal style may cause undesired side-effects: since it is the "parent" of many other styles, these may also be formatted as double-spaced. See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...alTemplate.htm. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Pat Garard" wrote in message ... Modify the style that the text is based on. If you are using a Word resume template the sections are formatted as a
table - table show gridlines. Apply your own formatting to the text if you want it different. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org sherriff wrote: im doing a cv and the spacing between the lines of text are different "Esp_etc" wrote: Right now, double spacing as a default will work better for me than to have to go into a ton of documents and update them from single spacing! Thanks all for your help. it seems I was exasperating the problem by using
cut and paste from a previous doc. I highlighted the whole doc formatted type style and undid formatting. I then edited and formatted as needed "Esp_etc" wrote: Right now, double spacing as a default will work better for me than to have to go into a ton of documents and update them from single spacing!
