Stop hitting return to go to a new line. Hitting return creates a new
paragraph, and usually, we want paragraphs to start with a capital letter, so Word is doing it for you. But if you just keep typing, Word will automatically wrap the text to the new line for you. why is the first word of every sentence automatically capitalized
The body of your message is at odds with your subject line. The first word
of every sentence is automatically capitalized if you have this option enabled in the Tools | AutoCorrect Options dialog. If you're actually betting a capital at the beginning of every line, it's because Word thinks it's the beginning of a sentence. The most likely cause for that is that you're pressing Enter at the end of each line. This creates a new paragraph, and Word reasonably enough assumes that the beginning of a paragraph is the beginning of a sentence. -- Suzanne S.
