Default How to make autotext fields auto update in word, ie filepaths?

I'm using Office Professional. I have added to the footer of the normal.dot
template filepath, document name, author, creation date, and page count. I
would like to make the filepath auto update on saving, or reopening so that
users do not have to manually update the fields.

I would suggest that you do not modify the normal.dot template in that way.
It will cause problems if you ever want to perform a label type mail merge.
Instead, create a new template and incorporate those features in that
template.

From the Tools menu in Word, select Options and then go to the General tab
and check the Update automatic links and Open and on the Print tab, check
the Update Fields boxes.
