Default Write a word document programatically

I need to write a report in docx format and have a licensed copy of Word 2010. All my analytical work is done using linux applications so I effectively have to reboot into windows whenever I need to write something.

I would like to write the document programatically in say c++ as I can do this while running linux and having access to my analytical tools. Once I've finished I should be able to boot into windows, run the code and produce the completed docx document.

Is this feasible?

So far I've been able to create, add paragraphs and a picture to a word document using visual basic but I'd rather learn a language that I can also use in linux. I can't seem to figure out how to do the same in c++ though. Are there any other options or can someone show me how to do this with c++?

Thanks guys!
