Default Is there a way to see edits in a saved Word document

I'm trying find out if a Word document I received has been edited. I'm using
Word 2003.

If the document was edited while Track Changes was turned on, and the
changes haven't been accepted or rejected, you can see the markup -- visit
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/trac...ngesWorks.html.

If you have a copy of the original document from before the editing (if any)
was done, you can use Tools Compare and Merge Documents.

Otherwise, there is no way to tell. In particular, don't trust any of the
dates (Created, Modified, or Saved) stored in the document; there are too
many ways those dates could change, regardless of whether any editing was
done.
