Default word 2007 date updating?

I have saved some files in word 2007 but each day I go to look at the file
the date is changing each day. How do I make sure that the saved file keeps
the same date as my files need to be dated when created..

Not strictly a Word problem - assuming you are using Vista, add the Date
Created Column to Windows Explorer...

It's not clear but are you referring to a date in the document itself? In
which case, you have inserted the date as a field which will update
automatically when you open the documents. The alternatives are many, but
you can insert the CreateDate field (which obviously never updates in a
document or it would be a CreateDate). You can LOCK the field using the
LockFields command (Ctrl+F11) or you can UNLINK the field (Ctrl+Shift+F9) -
which turns the field into plain text. The difference is that Unlinking is
irreversable, whereas Lock can be Unlocked (Ctrl+Shift+F11)
