I don't know what I did, but for some time now my cursor/insertion point is
no longer visible when I type. I have to use my mouse. I can never tell where
I am if I move around in my document. I am using MS-Word 2003.

This is a known issue with Word 2003. Change the zoom, for example to 500%,
and then change it back to what you prefer. That should fix it, at least
temporarily.
