I recently office 2007 trial so my son could make a Power point presentation
for school. I have uninstalled office trial. When I try to reinstall word
2002 I am asked for a product key. I do not have it anymore. Can I get a new
key from MS or do I have to buy a newer version of word?

Did your Word 2002 come with your computer or did you buy it separately?

Then chances are that it is an OEM version of the software, unsupported by
Microsoft. Retail versions come with a disc packaging bearing the product
key. For OEM versions you will have to contact the supplier of the PC for
the number.
One thing to try is to download and run Belarc Advisor. If the old entries
have not been removed from the registry this application might show the
number.

First contact the manufacturer of the computer and ask them for a new
product key. If they refuse then contact Microsoft and explain the OEM
refused to provide you with a new key. Note that Microsoft may charge a
nominal fee (around $10US) since it isn't a retail version.

To contact Microsoft call (800) 360-7561 or if outside the US see this site:

I know this sounds like a runaround, but did you call MS and tell them you
contacted the manufacturer and they refused to help you?
