Is it possible to make a sum cell not show a total when the value in one of
its source cells is zero? This is on an excell spreadsheet wher I have a
column for "Optional" items & don't want a total unless there is an amount in
the option cell.

Umm... Try asking in an Excel newsgroup? This one is about Word.
