Default open word document, created in Vista, in an older version?

I am trying to open my Windows Vista created document with a 2003 version of
word.

Windows Vista doesn't create documents, so I assume you mean Word 2007. If
you didn't save it in Word 97-2003 format, then you'll need to download the
Office 2007 Compatibility Pack from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
