Remove Numbering but not resequence
I have a doc I got from someone and I need to extract cells in a table from
it. However, when I remove the text, which is associated with an Numbering format from Bullets and Numbering, the remaining cells resequence the numbering. How can I remove the text and let the numbering stay the same? I know I can select Renumber from the Bullets and Numbering menu, but I have a lot to remove and it's tedious to do that. Is there an option to not resequence? Example: 1. text1 2. text2 3. text3 should be: 1. text1 3. text3 and not 1. text1 2. text3 |

Remove Numbering but not resequence
Before deleting any numbered items, you can convert the numbers to plain
text. Note that you cannot easily bring back the auto numbering. Therefore, it may be a good idea to keep a copy of the original document. 1. Press Alt+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor (VBE). 2. Press Ctrl+G to display the Immediate window if it is not visible (normally at the bottom of the VBE window). Follow step 3A or 3B: 3A. If you want _all autonumbering_ in the active document to be converted to plain text: In the Immediate Window, type: ActiveDocument.ConvertNumbersToText and press Return. 3B. If you only want to convert autonumbering in _part of the document_ to plain text, select the relevant text in the document. In the Immediate Window, type: Selection.Range.ListFormat.ConvertNumbersToText and press Return. -- Regards Lene Fredborg - Microsoft MVP (Word) DocTools - Denmark www.thedoctools.com Document automation - add-ins, macros and templates for Microsoft Word "mnt" wrote: I have a doc I got from someone and I need to extract cells in a table from it.
