Default CAPTURING SCREEN SHOTS

I am creating a job aid for employees to use that show them how to use
certain functions in Word. I know how to create a screen shot (Alt + Print
Screen) in order to include examples within my job aid. I would like to be
able to capture a screen shot with a drop down menu displayed. However, if I
click on any drop down menu (e.g. the File menu), when I click the "Alt" key,
the drop down menu disappears. I know this can be done, since I've seen it
in other training documents. Can you tell me how I get the drop down menu to
freeze allowing me to capture the screen shot?

Thanks.

Try looking up a program called 'Snagit' it's not a program I'm personally
familiar with, but I know that a lot of 'pro' tutorial writers swear by it.

For anything more than the simplest screen shots, you need a dedicated
screen capture program. The only one I have any experience with is SnagIt
from TechSmith (www.techsmith.com), but I highly recommend it. There is a
free trial available.

If you have PowerPoint 2003, you can download a free addin from Microsoft
called MS Producer. It allows you to take pictures and save them as pngs
which you can then insert into your Word document. It also lets you record
screen vidoes and saves them as wmas which you can insert into PowerPoint.

Hope that helps
