Selection arrow appearing on the right side of screen
The paragraph selection arrow that appears when you click off to the left of
a paragraph in Word is now appearing on the right side of the screen now for a person here. They want to just click at the end of a line to insert the i-beam, but instead, it turns into an arrow, pointing to the upper left and the whole line is selected. Do you know why this is happening and how to turn it off? Thanks! |

G'Day Catherine,
You have somehow enabled 'Right to Left' Language support. Use the 'Microsoft Office Language Settings' tool (it is in the 'Microsoft Office Tools' Folder on the 'Start''All Programs' Menu) to investigate this - remove any 'Eastern' languages that you do not need. -- Regards, Pat Garard Melbourne, Australia _______________________ "Catherine" wrote in message ... That is a setting change that definitely needs to be made, but even so it is
often easier to be anywhere on the line and press the End or Home key. HTH |:) "Pat Garard" wrote: G'Day Catherine, You have somehow enabled 'Right to Left' Language support. G'Day CyberTaz,

In case anyone views this at a later date, the way I fixed this was through
the registry. I went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Microsoft - Office - 10.0 - Common - LanguageResources and deleted any number listed other than 1033, which is English. Based on the information I found in this document: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...spx?mode=print I think that this feature was activated while he had the right-left language setting installed (as you indicated earlier in the Regional Language Settings), and he pressed CTRL+RIGHT SHIFT, which enabled the right-left in Word. Thanks Pat for leading me in the right direction on this! I never would have thought to investigate the right-left language setting if you didn't post your response.
