Default Word has changed data to square boxes..Why?

Did you save the file directly from Word to a floppy disk, or
open the file directly from a floppy disk? If so, the file could
be corrupt.

Hi Wanda,

To fix your document, you could try the macro from he
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...intingfonts/m=
sg/c02e618f77061077

I've seen a few documents like that. Often it happens when you apply a =
symbol font and save the document, then try to change the font back.
But I've also received a few files where the author said (s)he didn't do =
that, and the boxes just suddenly appeared when they opened the =
document.
Maybe it occurs when the font is missing, and Word falsely substitutes a =
decorative font? Just a guess...
