I have this bizarre line in my headers and footer. Can't highlight them,
delete them or select them. They are only on certain pages not all of them.
Don't know how to make them go away.

Two possibilities I can think of:

1. These are page borders (top and bottom). Check Fomat Borders and
Shading and click the Page Border tab. See if borders are set for top and
bottom of the page.

2. These may be paragraph borders. Click in the header or footer and check
Format Borders and click the Borders tab. Check to see if borders are set
for "Paragraph".

You may need to do these steps for every page (for page border) or every
header and footer (for borders).
