Default corrupt file

My several docx. files cannot be open, the message i get is : The Office Open
SML file (file name) cannot be openec because there are problems with the
contents. and when i look into details I get the meessage: Microsoft office
cannotopen this file because some parts are missing or invaliid.
On some other files I get the first message the same first message, followed
with the : The file is corrupt and and cannot be opened.
Please help

It's telling you it's an Open Office file, not Microsoft Office.
