Would you explain a little fuller what you are trying to do please. Also, what do you mean by formatting notations: do you mean non-printing characters such as paragraph marks and the feint dots separating characters, etc? Also, which version of Word please? -- Terry Farrell - Word MVP http://word.mvps.org/ "charles" wrote in message ... : Wanted to 'un'merge a document, and remove or hide the formatting notations. : -- : charles |

I suspect the OP has used Compare and Merge Documents and is referring to
the markup. This can be hidden by displaying either Original or Final view, or it can be removed by either accepting or rejecting all the changes. -- Suzanne S. If you are referring to taking a document that you were going to use in a
mail merge and do not want to link it to the mail merge anymore then you will need to click on the first button on the mail merge toolbar ("Main Document Setup") and select "Normal Word Document". Was trying to make a template useing Works Suite 2003,Word. Could not find a
way to end it so that I could use it.Used NAV'05 to check for a virus. seemed to keep giveing me a drawing canvass instead of a 'text box',nothing found. Continued to show all formatting. Did try to use the canvass box instead of the text box .Will search for the final view. "TF" wrote: Charles Would you explain a little fuller what you are trying to do please. You can turn off the drawing canvas from tools options general, but you
could have inserted a text box in it. To 'end' a template you save it as a template and then it becomes available under file new. Formatting display is toggled with CTRL+* and for fields with ALT+F9 See also http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs/Letterhead.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org charles wrote: Was trying to make a template useing Works Suite 2003,Word.
