Cannot insert more than one A3 section in document
I successfully changed the page setup to A3 in one section of my Word
document, but Word will not let me insert a subsequent A3 section further down the document. I get the message "The settings you chose for the left and right margins, column spacing, or paragraph indents are too large for the page width insome sections", but this is not true and no combination of changes works. There is no option to "fix" or "ignore", so it becomes a dead end. I have tried all different margins, columns, paragraph settings, printer settings, page orientation, but cannot find the solution. Any help for this? |

Cannot insert more than one A3 section in document
Go to Format | Columns, make sure "Whole document" is selected under "Apply
to," and click on the preset picture for One, then OK. -- Suzanne S. Cannot insert more than one A3 section in document
Thank you, this did work after some puzzling -- at first I could not find a
place where the column formatting gave the "Whole document" option (only "This section" or "From this point forward"), but after about the 6th location tried it worked. And then the page setup options did not include A3. At first when I chose custom and 42 wide, 29.7 high (i.e. A3 landscape) I got the same problem as before, but then I chose custom, 29.7 wide, 42 high, this worked, and I was able to change the page orientation to landscape. Whew!! And another note -- I had done a lot of trials with column width -- but did not consider "whole document" because I already have A4 landscape pages for one thing (column wider than 16 cm), and the column width of the landscape A3 page in the end would be 37 cm) -- and it isn't possible to omit the column witdh from the dialogue box. So it's very mysterious and to me illogical, but thank you for helping me solve the problem! "Suzanne S. Cannot insert more than one A3 section in document
By "making sure," I meant that you should change the setting to say that,
not find a location where it already did! The point of the exercise is to make Word check the "Equal column width" box, which it sometimes fails to do, resulting in a column of a set width that is wider or narrower than margin width, with disastrous results. -- Suzanne S. Cannot insert more than one A3 section in document
As I said -- the option "Whole document" was simply not offered in the
location in question! Only "This section" or "This point forward" -- so your instructions were not actually possible... Furthermore, I did not "find a location where it already did" -- as I said, I found a location where the option was actually offered so that I could select it.... "Suzanne S.
