create a footer that updates text from body of report
I am creating a report in Word 2003 that has an idenfication number
associated to each report. I would like to pull the report number into the footer so that when I use the first report as a template for subsequent reports I do not have to edit the footer just the title of the report. Do I use a version of hyperlink or some other function. |

create a footer that updates text from body of report
Bookmark the first occurrence of the number (i.e., in the title), then use a
{ref bookmark} field in the footer where you want the number replicated. 1. Select the report number, and choose Insert - Bookmark. Type a name for the bookmark (e.g., ReportNumber), and press Enter. 2. Navigate to the footer, press Ctrl+F9, type REF name (e.g., REF ReportNumber), and press F9. If a footer doesn't update to the correct number when you create a new report, then click on the report number field in the footer and press F9 to update it manually. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "tlg1261" wrote in message ... A StyleRef field is another good way to do this, and it updates
automatically in the header/footer. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote in message ...
