Default Merging multi-line fields

I have a merg field which contains multi-lline data. How can I choose only
the first line of the multi-line field to merge in my document?

There is no way to do that with mailmerge other than to insert the
mergefield into a cell of a table that has its dimensions fixed so that only
the first line of data is displayed. Apart from that, you would have to
modify the data source.

Hope this helps.
