Default Cyrilic problem

My wife created a Word document, in English, while in Russia in an Internet
café, and saved it to her flash pen as TMA5.odt (don't ask me why! Maybe it
has something to do with .dot). Anyway, now that she is back she cannot read
the file. Word brings up a box saying "Word cannot start the converter
mswrd632.wpc.

Could you help? The file is very important as it is many days work on her
thesis.

Thank you and Merry Xmas.

JB

Nothing to do with DOT. Presumably she used Open Office to save as ODT file
format?

You would need a converter to open ODT format in Word
http://odf-converter.sourceforge.net/

As for the error message, there have been some problems relating to a
Windows update that replaced this file with a newer version. You could
uninstall the 973904 update which should restore the older mswrd632.wpc file
that the update replaced. It won't help you convert the file if you don't
have the appropriate converter installed

Thank you Graham

Meanwhile, I have solved the puzzle. It appears that she wrote the file in
Word2007 and her computer here has Word2002, which is not compatible. I
read the file in my daughter's computer with 2007 and saved it for an
earlier version. It works fine.

Thank you and Merry Xmas

Jorge
