Default I have Word 2003 but get offered Word 2007 updates

Why do I get offered updates by the Windows updater for Word 2007
when I have Word 2003?

(I have a Powerpoint 2007 viewer but no other Office 2007 products.)

Is it safe to install the updates?

That's good enough. You have some components of Office 2007. Probably
components shared by all the office 2007 products.

Give the exact KB article number (KB######) of the update you think you
shouldn't be getting.

What you are seeing is quite normal. It will get downloaded with a bundle of
downloads because you do have an O2007 product, but those unwanted
components won't be installed.

I regularly see the reverse where Office 2007 is installed but there is
still Visio 2003 on the computer.

I get offered both Office 2003 and Office 2007 updates (I have both
installed), plus Office XP because I reinstalled the Microsoft Photo Editor
from that version. The only ones I reject (aside from Office XP) are the
ones for Outlook 2007 (which is not installed) and the spam filters for
Outlook 2003 (since I don't use Outlook for mail).
