Formatting for new printer.
I have WinXP & Word2003.
We have a new printer and so I want all the *old* documents to open on this one. I have configured the "Normal.dot" for all future documents, but how do I get all the old ones to work with this new printer? This new printer is fussy in that it requires the formatting of Word to point to its "Tray1", otherwise it refuses to work. Please help, Frank |

Word doesn't "point" to any sort of tray - that's the function of the Printer setup. As long as this new printer is set as default, and the Paper Source in the Printer setup is set as tray 1, then you shouldn't need to change anything else.... |

It's also helpful to make sure that Word is set to print to the default tray
(AutoSelect); this setting is on the Paper tab of Page Setup. -- Suzanne S. Formatting for new printer.
Thank you. I have tried this to no avail.
The page setup wants "tray 1" in the dialogue even though this is present in the printer setup. The printer is a copier/printer combination "Sharp AR5316". It caused no end of trouble finding this out, and the Normal.dot template fixed it for all future documents, though all past ones have now to be set manually. Regards. "Suzanne S.
