Default Why does Word always open in the header?

Everytime I open a New Document in Word 2003, the cursor appears in the
header area. I then have to click View Header and Folder Close to have
the cursor appear in the body, where it's supposed to be.

How do I set things up so that New Documents open up in the body of the text
and not the header?

G'Day Doughboy,

You appear to have somehow saved some unwanted text into
your NORMAL template.

Sorry, I should have clarified that the header space doesn't actually have
any text in it. When I open up a New Document, the page is completely blank,
but the cursor appears above the top margin, in the header area.

The NORMAL template opens up the way it should, with the cursor below the
top margin, in the body of the document.

(Thanks for the link, though, Pat... it actually answered another, unrelated
question I had about templates.)
