Default Spell check not working. Text marked has been skipped.

I have tried highlighting the whole text with Ctrl A and unticking the skip
box in the options, but this has not made any difference.

It is most peculiar. It is a document I created myself and I did not mark
any text for skipping.

Ctrl+A and go to Tools | Language | Set Language. Make sure that the correct
language is selected and that "Do not check spelling or grammar" is not
checked (even with a grayed-out check). Clear the check box for "Detect
language automatically," as language autodetection doesn't work very
dependably.

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for your speedy response.

Unfortunately, I had already tried that as I have had the same problem in
the past with Office XP and it solved the problem then.

I now have Office XP and it has not solved the problem. I also do not
understand how there are apparently areas marked to be skipped in a document
I created and in which I did not mark any such areas.

Thanks anyway for taking the time to try and help.

Words are not skipped unless they are marked as "Do not check spelling or
grammar" or unless they meet criteria of your settings on the Spelling &
Grammar tab of Tools | Options, such as "Ignore words in UPPERCASE," "Ignore
words with numbers," etc.

You are a GENIUS - it as the uppercase tab in Tools/Options.

Problem (which was driving me nuts!) SOLVED.

THANK YOU
